Question:

Contact us / FAQ: Please use the web form to the right, after first reviewing common questions/answers below to see if your question is already answered. How to email or call us.
TIP: Are you looking for rates or availability, or just want to take a virtual tour of the house?
1) How do we book a reservation? Call us at 1-603-524-4000. If you have any questions, use the web form to the right, or e-mail or call us.

2) Why do you request a phone call instead of doing online booking? We want to get to know the folks who stay in our homes a little. Our houses are designed to be comfortable and we want them to be taken care of. Each of them holds some of our family antiques -- meant to be used and enjoyed, but not abused. This home is very much a labor of love for us. We stay in each vacation home anywhere from 6 weeks to 5 months a year, depending upon the house. We want our guests to feel like they are using the vacation home of a friend.

3) Why do you ask for a check for your final payment? To help us keep rental rates for you as low as possible. Otherwise, we would have to raise rental rates to cover credit card processing fees.

4) How far is The Idyll Mouse One from Disney's parks? Just minutes away (map). Travel time depends upon traffic (remember Walt Disney World is twice the size of Manhattan), but for most parks, it takes less time than when I stayed on Disney property at the Grand Floridian or the Polynesian. Follow our 'back way' directions to save lots of traffic lights and time. To Animal Kingdom, about 5 to 8 minutes. To Epcot and MGM, about 10 minutes. To Magic Kingdom, 15 to 20 minutes.

5) Do you have any Magic Kingdom tips? Remember, to reach the Magic Kingdom turnstiles, everyone needs to park, take a tram, take the monorail or ferry over, and go through security bag checks. We suggest leaving for the Magic Kingdom around 8 am to arrive at the turnstiles just before opening time at 9 am. From Disney's own hotels, it can take anywhere from 10 minutes (walking from the Contemporary Hotel) to over an hour to reach the Magic Kingdom. Walt Disney wanted people to be transported to another world -- and it takes time to get there. Once inside, go straight to the Dumbo ride, and totally follow Tour Guide Mike's wonderful park plans -- follow the tips on the best days to visit each park. If you want to see the Magic Kingdom's fireworks one night only, then book dinner at Ohana or Kona Cafe and watch them from the Polynesian beach after dinner (or even do the Luau there). Or go to eat at the California Grill (very pricey but good) overtop the Contemporary Hotel for great fireworks views.
If you can afford it, and if you can snag a reservation, the absolute most enchanting way to see the Magic Kingdom fireworks is on a specialty private cruise that leaves from the docks of either the Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Contemporary or Wilderness Lodge. Call 407-WDW-PLAY to inquire and book up to 90 days in advance. Sometimes you can book same day due to cancellations. Just INCREDIBLE!!!
6) Is viewing the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the pool deck like being at the park? The view from the pool deck is a great view of the fireworks (you miss some of the lower ones), but no, it is totally different than being in the parks -- as Mouse One is several miles away. Allow at least one night to be at the Magic Kingdom so you can see them up close. Or go as close as the Polynesian resort, which has several restaurants (Ohana, the Luau, and the Kona Cafe) and a lounge on the second floor. If with a sound sensitive child, either view back on the beach at the Polynesian, or take ear protection (the noise bothered our child up to three years old). Both views (house/park) are totally different, but both have their merits. To be able to scoot out to the pool deck just a minute before time and see the fireworks is so relaxing (and we keep a CD in the villa of 'Wishes', the fireworks music and soundtrack -- to listen to while you watch the fireworks). But there are times I love to go to the Magic Kingdom to see them.

7) How clean is the house? We maintain a very clean house, and prior guest comments demonstrate that. In addition to regular cleanings, we pay to have to house deep cleaned four times a year, plus have the windows cleaned, plus have the HVAC ducts vacuumed/cleaned. We have all bamboo or tiled floors inside (no carpets), with small area rugs only. The garage game room has a carpet which is cleaned often. Outside walkways are pressure washed several times a year. We ask guests to wipe down the baby equipment before they leave and provide Clorox wipes for that purpose. We leave a dust buster, two vacuums, Swiffer wet and dry, etc. And I can't say enough good things about the cleaning staff.

8) What about discount tickets for Disney? We have used Undercover Tourist, recommended on Mary Warring's MouseSavers.com site, which I totally trust. No one has complained to me of any problems.

9) Can you recommend a trip planner? We strongly recommend using Tour Guide Mike. It is a wonderful resource for planning the trip. I can't say enough good things about the site and Mike. The best $21.95 you will ever spend in terms of time saved on your Disney trip.

10) How do we operate the spa? With the spa off, the spa and pool water temperature will be the same. The spa timer switch is located in the pool area under a plastic cover (near the kitchen window). With the spa timer switch on, it can take anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes for spa water to reach the final 102° temperature.

11) Where is the closest grocery store? In the shopping center at the corner Formosa Gardens Blvd and Route 192. However, for major shopping we prefer the Publix that is just a mile further west on Route 192. We provide a welcome basket with ingredients for a light breakfast the first morning. Also, for a fee, there is a grocery shopping service.

12) How close are hospitals, urgent care centers, vets? Urgent care is by the closest grocery store (2 miles). The closest hospital is in nearby Celebration, FL (6.5 miles). The vet is 4 miles away.

12) Do cleaning people come during our stay? No, they clean before and after your stay. If you require cleaning during your stay, we can arrange for 'Molly Maids' service (for a fee).

13) Upon leaving, do we need to wash sheets, towels, etc? The only towels you are expected to wash and put away clean are the pool towels or 'puppy towels' or 'puppy sheets' you might use during your stay. If you have time to strip the beds before you leave, our cleaning staff would greatly appreciate that.

14) Do you provide shuttle service to the various parks? We strongly recommend a cheap rental car or van (and Orlando is FULL of them) because it gives YOU total flexibility instead depending upon a shuttle schedule.

15) In the event of a hurricane, are monies refunded? There are no refunds due to weather conditions, including hurricane evacuations, because Trip Cancellation Insurance is now available. If you are concerned about this possibility, you can eliminate the risk by purchasing appropriate insurance. Consult your travel agent, insurance agent, or various Internet sites, to obtain the insurance.
